BALLET FOLKLORICO CRISTO REY
was formed five years ago as a youth activity at Christ the
King Catholic Church in San Diego. Our instructor Job Moriado
has over 25 years experience dancing and teaching. He studied
dance under Ma. Guadalupe de la Rosa, Ph.D. in Guadalajara,
Mexico. Job danced with Fresno State University, Cal State
Bakersfield and College of the Sequoias. His favorite region
is Veracruz. Job has a style which supersedes any other. He
loves working with youth and wants them to have the opportunities
he received growing up.
We rapidly grew into three groups of performers whose ages
range from children ages 3 to 12, young adults 13 to 20, and
adults presently to age 76. We perform traditional folkloric
dances from region of Mexico, such as Veracruz, Jalisco, Guerrero,
Chiapas, Sinaloa, Durango, Chihuahua, Nayarit, San Luis Potosi
and Yucatan.
We have performed at "Old Town" San Diego, Qualcomm
Stadium, Lemon Grove Festival, KSWB-TV, Cinco de Mayo Festival
in Chula Vista, Anaheim Convention Center, Knotts Berry Farm,
Chicano Park, Del Mar Fair, Coors Amphitheater, Viejas Casino
Outlet, Horton Plaza, Plaza Bonita Mall, Lyceum Theater, Belmont
Park, Malcolm "X" Library, Disneyland, San Diego
Convention Center, Bonita Festival, El Cajon International
Festival and Grape Day Parade in Escondido.
