Carlos Washington and the Amazing Giant People Ensemble.
Giant People is a New Century Soul Collective, combining
Jazz, Funk, Hip-Hop, World Groove and Classical music formats.
The vibe is eclectic, underground soul jazz... that everybody
can dance to.
Carlos Washington, former US Marine Corps Band trumpeter,
created the Amazing Giant People Ensemble in 2000, after a
two year stint with Karl Denson (original Sax player for Lenny
Kravitz). The band was then signed to independent label, New
Century Soul Records.
The core team consists of Carlos Washington, Bandleader and
trumpet with effects; Ignacio Arango, guitar; John Staten,
drums; Jesse Molloy, tenor saxophone; and Andy Irvine, electric
bass.
The band tours nationally performing over 100 shows per year.
Some of the touring highlights include, Sundance Film Festival
(Park City, UT) 2000/2001, San Francisco North Beach Jazz
Festival (San Francisco, CA) 2001, Winter Olympics (Park City,
UT) 2002, and the Atlanta Jazz Festival (Atlanta, GA) 2002.
The groups' musical influences are global and are reflected
on their current album, Much Love, which contains elements
of Afro-beat, Techno, R&B, and Jazz. The Much Love album
also combines global influences in production by collaborating
with Carlos Malcolm (World Music Icon, The Father of SKA,
and composer of the original music score for the first James
Bond 007 movie series). Adding contemporary R&B to this
production team is Platinum songwriter, producer and guitarist,
Glenn McKinney, who has collaborated with Brandy, Rahsaan
Patterson and Jody Watley.
Carlos Washington and the Amazing Giant People Ensemble has
an epic, fresh sound that is universally uplifting and emotionally
delightful.
