Emaue is a talented rock group that offers a new taste and
original sound. This band emerged in 1995 in a local high
school in San Diego, facing a very demanding crowd who desired
not only quality in music, but also a fresh sound.
The five members that make up this group are of Mexican origin,
three of them come from Mexico City: Alex on drums, the two
brothers in the group Erick on percussion, and his younger
brother Toño on keyboards and accordion. The frontman
of the band J.L. "cuevo" is from Acapulco, Mexico.
He is the lead vocalist/songwriter and plays the guitar. Gus
the bass player is from San Diego, CA.
The name EMAUE represents the origin and identity of cultural
and afrolatin chants. In the musical fusion this band creates,
you can hear elements of ska, cumbia, funk, rock, reggae,
punk, along with traditional Mexican sounds like banda and
other rhythms they grew up listening to. Something they defined
as: "tropiquebracumbiamamboska".
Although with their short career, this band has wasted no
time in taking advantage of the opportunities they have come
across with.
