Swing Shift consists of 11 members, a 6 piece horn
section: Bari sax, Tenor sax, Alto sax, Trombone, 2 Trumpet's,
& a 5 piece Rhythm section consisting of guitar, bass, keyboard,
drums & lead vocalist! We will swing you all night long! Our
sound is one of the "hottest" swing sound's in California!
Richard Prospal - Bari Sax!
The band's founder and business manager, Richard has many
years of experience as a band leader. He calls the tunes and
covers the bottom end with his Big Baritone Sax.
Jack Stone -Trumpet
Affectionately called the Prince of Wails, Jack's trumpet
experience is extensive. A founding member of SWING SHIFT,
he has appeared on the same stage as Boz Scaggs, The Beach
Boys and
Jim Weiss -Tenor & Alto Sax
A long time San Diego resident and veteran of many of San
Diego's most popular swing, jazz, rock and oldies bands. His
heart-felt solos will definitely grab you.
Shannon Dailey -Trombone
A music teacher, as well as a performer, Shannon puts an anchor
to the SWING SHIFT Brass section, and lays down many a tasty
solos. When his lips are free, Shannon sings backing vocals.
Mark Nowak -Trumpet
Mark has recently moved to San Diego after completing his
Master's Degree in Trumpet Performance at the University of
Georgia, where he played for the Montreax Jazz Festival and
the Super Bowl XXXIV.
Janet Hammer -Lead Vocalist
Janet really takes the group to the next level with her vocals!
All eyes are on Janet when she is out front singing.
Jeff Winkler -Drums
Jeff is the source of the band's swinging rhythms and driving
beat. He has toured and recorded with a variety of groups
and has performed as a musician in several off-Broadway shows.
Bill Wells -Keyboard/Piano
With his strong background in Jazz and theory, Quince works
magic over his piano keys. The result is truly a delightful
experience, as he covers that middle-ground of the Swing Shift
sound.
Marty Irwin -Guitar
Marty quit his own band to join Swing Shift! An eleven year
veteran of San Diego area music scene, he puts a rock edge
to his guitar work and handles the high harmony of our backing
vocals.
