Who the heck is Reno Jones?
In 1997, Doug, Mike and K.O. decided to put together a band
that would include not only a rhythm section and vocalist,
but 4 horns as well (this is because Mike and K.O. are both
horn players and wanted to be in the band). They called upon
friends that they has played with before and started rehearsing
without a vocalist.
Mark (tenor sax) mentioned that, about a year earlier he was
approached at a club by a chick singer (female vocalist) who
said she had moved out here from Minnesota and was looking
for a band to play with. Mark searched his apartment and came
up with her phone number. Miraculously, she had the same number
and agreed to come check out the band.
Exhibiting our best behavior, we somehow managed to convince
Jerri-Sue to join us.
In the years that have followed, we have been extremely fortunate:
We have become as much a family as we have a band and have
been honored to play lots of incredibly fun and rewarding
gigs. We've been on live radio, opened for many top-notch
artists, taken a stretch limo to compete in a Battle of the
Bands in Monterey (150 bands entered, we took 2nd place),
and even recorded a live CD from inside a women's prison!
Reno Jones has matured into a band that we are all proud
of and look forward to the years +that follow. Give us a shot
at your venue and we guarantee you'll be impressed!
